Embraer, a global leader in the aerospace industry, delivered on September 27, 2024, the seventh multi-mission C-390 Millennium (KC-390) aircraft to the First Squadron of the First Transport Group (1º/1º GT) of Galeão Air Base, in Rio de Janeiro. This milestone comes as the Brazilian Air Force celebrates five years of service of the first KC-390, performing a wide range of military and humanitarian missions around the world.

 

“Over the past five years, the KC-390 Millennium has demonstrated operational qualities, reliability and versatility, executing the most demanding missions anytime, anywhere, with the Brazilian Air Force. With the delivery of this new aircraft, we are proud to be able to further contribute to the operational success of the FAB’s most varied missions,” said Bosco da Costa Júnior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.

 

Since it entered service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019, the KC-390 Millennium has proven its capability, reliability, and performance. From transporting supplies amid the COVID crisis, participating in international missions, performing aerial refueling, repatriating Brazilian citizens, and fighting fires, it continues to prove its versatility.

With a payload capacity of 26 tons, a speed of 470 knots, and state-of-the-art avionics, the C-390 is the best aircraft in its category. Its powerful engines, large cargo compartment equipped with a rear ramp, and robust landing gear allow it to perform the most demanding missions on unpaved runways. A true strategic asset for its end users, the C-390 Millennium can perform a wide range of military and civilian missions, such as cargo, personnel and vehicle transport, peacekeeping operations, special operations, humanitarian support, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, aerial refueling and disaster management.

 

Thanks to its cutting-edge performance, cost-effectiveness and versatility, the C-390 has been selected by several nations such as Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and South Korea.

 

The current fleet of aircraft in operation has accumulated more than 14,000 flight hours, operational availability of 93% and mission completion rates above 99%, demonstrating exceptional productivity in the category.
